What is Shinrin-Yoku Forest Bathing?

IMG_5906.jpg

Forest bathing, or forest therapy, is a nature therapy based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku.

Shinrin-Yoku translates as “forest bathing.” It is an approach where you take the time to reconnect with nature, with your body, your senses, feelings and emotions. It has recently become one of the well appreciated techniques used to improve your mental health and wellness in an easy, well accessible way, for anyone, anywhere around the world.

We will guide you through a series of meditative, mindful invitations, where you will start noticing through your senses the subtle beauty around and within you.

Shinrin-Yoku forest bathing can help you to:

01.

Softly reduce stress and relieve anxiety

02.

Induce a gentle calm and clarity

03.

Increase creativity

04.

Refocus aspirations and

refresh yourself

What happens on a Shinrin-Yoku walk?

A Shinrin-Yoku forest bathing walk consists of a series of activities & sits, designed to help the participants to bathe in the surroundings, the environment and energy of the forest, allowing them to slow down, breathe, and refocus on their body, while connecting to their various senses.

We also have a chance to share between each of the activities and we end our forest bathing with a special tea ceremony, to embody our experience and give gratitude to the forest.

We offer private walks or sessions for individuals, for couples, families, or public groups, both in-person and remotely guided.

What are Phytoncides?

Trees and plants release tiny little molecules called phytoncides. They are active substances, that help protect them from rotting or being attacked by insects or diseases. Phytoncides emitted by trees have a beneficial effect on humans, as they decrease the production of stress hormones by our bodies, while increasing the number and activity of a type of white blood cell called natural killer cells or NK cells.

Studies prove that stress inhibits immune functions and that a properly functioning immune system plays an important role in the body defence against bacteria and viruses.

These chemicals not only enhance the health of the trees and plants emitting them, but have an effect on human physiology and mental well-being as well.
